A Guide to Planning a Trip To China
It may be daunting to plan a trip to China even if you have already experienced many travels abroad. If it is your first time to visit China, then here are some simple steps to help you in planning your trip.
The first thing to consider is the places where you want to go. The favorite spots include Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai. Guilin, and Chengdu are other great places that you can also visit. Make sure that you go to places that will interest you. Research on these areas and consider where you really want to go. It is important also to determine the activities that can be done in these places.
Include Beijing in your itinerary if you want to see a mix of history and modernity. The Forbidden City and the Great Wall are things to see in Beijing.
For history lovers, Xi’an is the place in China to visit. It was here that China began as a nation. China’s first emperor ruled here. The Great Mosque, the grand Terracotta Army, and the Wild Big Goose Pagodas can also be seen here.
Shanghai is the largest and showiest city of China. It has spectacular skyline with towering modern architecture. Hangzhou, Suzhou or Huangshan are water towns that you can tour.
Guilin has picturesque scenery and has a minority culture in China. It has a beautiful landscape and a relaxing escape from the city. One of the things you can do here is to cruise the Li River to Yangshuo. If you are interested in the minority culture you can spend some days at the Longji Rice Terraces. Here you can find tiered fields and experience the world of the Zhuang and Yao minorities.
If you want to see giant pandas, then you should visit Chengdu. If you want to taste a great cuisine like the Spicy Sichuan hotpot, then Chengdu is the place to go.
So, after picking your destination, decide how long you will stay. A week in China would be ideal if you don’t just want to scratch the surface of China.
You should be aware of the gateway cities and the visa policy of China. For international flights, you can go to gateway cities like Beijing and Shanghai. But there are those who would travel via HongKong.
One of your considerations should be the best time to travel to China. Throughout the year it is ideal to visit China’s cultural and historical attraction. The seasons don’t affect the things to do in these regions. The most comfortable and highly recommended times for a China tour are during spring and autumn or from April to October.
